I just checked out the specs on the 9800 gx2 cards that are supposed to come out some time in March. Those things look pretty beastly. It's not everyday that you see a graphics card with its own grill. Regarding performance, will most games be able to harness the power of quad sli, or will it just be an extravagant waste. The reason why I ask is that I heard some people talking about a similar card in the geforce 7 series that was considered to be a failure.

I'd like to think that it's going to be the best thing to happen to graphic cards since the 3dfx Voodoo 3, but I get the feeling I'm going to be disappointed big time :( .

No, it is way different to the 7 series. Now the pre-render limit can be raised to 4 at the very minimum so hat all 4 cards can actually scale well.

Also, do you guys think that they will be able to really take advantage of the pci express 2.0 slots? When the 780i came out (and it had 2.0 support) people were saying that it was pointless since the 2.0 cards at the time could not fully take advantage of them.

Pfft, the 780i was a bit of a hash up, what with the 3rd Pci-e slot routing through a separate chip and DDR2, the 790i is the kiddie, but will it have enough bandwidth to fully cope with the GF10's?, and why has it got four SATA 2.0's and only two SATA 3.0's?, will the onboard HDMI be updatable to version 2.0 from version 1.2?, will the 800i be DDR4?. Those GF10's are a bandwidth hog, not as much as the GF11's mind you, and don't get me started on the GF12's :sarcastic:
