DVD Writer Issue

So I have an internal DVD drive and an internal CD writer. I'm trying to replace the CD writer with an internal DVD writer. When I put it in for some reason my computer won't recognize either the new DVD writer or the existing DVD drive. When I put the CD writer back in it works again.

Anyone know what's up?

are you using a sata or pata interface to connect these to the machine?

if its pata its likely you need to adjust the jumpers on the back of the drives, sounds like you have either two masters or two slaves causing interference with each other.
