Not really wanting to overclock because stability is more important to me than anything, but Im planning to buy this board

because its Gigabyte and its a real Am2+ (5200 MT/s) board at $89.99 which sounds like a bargain to me. So which one do you guys think I should buy I would go 5600+ but its 89w and I really like to stay at 65w. Intel is not an option.

Both are about the same price the only difference is the 5400+ is oem but I have an arctic cooler already, so that would be okay.

Amd 5000+ Black.

when intel makes a 1066 part into a 1333 part - wow they should not over clock should they?

then, the audacity, to make a 1600fsb part from an 800fsb part - omg? are they insane!

what is overclocking? is it when only users or the factory turns or the multiplier or is it when the factory turns up the bus speed?

if your not over clocking then find the sweet spot in price in the amd line its around $150 and 3ghz or 2.8ghz

that is your answer - i added more!

warpedsystems has sold only over clocked systems since 2003 - since it works! we warranty every cpu for 3 years - soon to be lifetime warranty!

If you don't want to overclock, why not 5000 non black?

Either CPU is a nice choice. I think the Black would have better resale value in the future, if you're the type that sells old computer hardware when you upgrade.

i took the time too look at amd prices at newegg

i recommend you go with a 2.8ghz chip - this is the speed of the original fx-60 and amd has not moved much since.

at 2.8ghz you have good speed and not too high temperatures no overclocking required at $133 this is a bargain and a great cpu!

The BE does not come with a hsf either. It should also run at 5400 speeds @ 65 watts. It will also do 5600 speeds, but probably at less than 89 watts.
Get the BE chip. It will be slower at stock, but some day you may need just a little more hp.
The BEs generally come from closer to the center of the wafer, so it's premium silicon.

Get the oem 5400. The 5000 BE cost more cause its easy'r to OC. Since you dont intend to OC at all just get the faster the chip. In this case it also a couple bucks cheaper.

5400 oem meets all your needs, 65w, 2.8ghz, cheap(good bang for buck). No need for the black edition since you will not overclock the cpu.

And if you do decide to OC sometime down the road you can still just oc the 5400 anyways.

He doesnt want Intel visual, the reason(s) behind it dont matter

I just had a x2-5600, and its a great chip especially when overclocked to 3.2ghz, that being said thy have or will have a 65 watt variant, but with 2x 512cahe instead of 2x 1mb cache, i would recoomend getting 89 watt version, it runs about 38 celcius on stock fan, and like 47c att load.
However if you must have 65 watt, get the 5000BE and a artic cooling 64 cpu fan
