Palmone says the Treo 600 browser won't support Java applets. To
me, this is a serious drawback.

Am I understanding this wrong? Is there a way for Java applets to
run on a Treo 600 with a third party application, perhaps?

TIA

Take care,
Rich

Okay....

I'm thoroughly confused.

This is from the web FAQ's....

Unsupported content
You cannot access pages with the following elements:

* Java applets
* Plug-ins (Flash, Shockwave, audio, video, etc.)
* BMP
* WML script

Note: the presence of a third party product in this article should
be not be construed as an endorsement of that product, nor should
its absence be considered a denigration. palmOne does not
manufacture any third-party products mentioned above, and cannot
provide support for them. If you purchase a third-party product and
require help with it, contact the manufacturer.

Take care,
Rich

Actually, the Java plug-in and the MIDlets were just recently announced.
Maybe they haven't cleaned up the FAQs yet.

J2ME MIDP support does *NOT* equate to Java Applet support !!!

You can load up the latest MIDP 2.0 release for Treo 600 and you
will be able to run MIDlets but *not* applets !!!
