bottom link is as good as it will get, however, is this for basic display, if so any card should be suitable.

you are kidding right?

if not then seriously you are kidding right?

okay, for gaming you might as well go with the one i suggested, it may only be a dx8 card but then again the nvidia 6200 has no chance in hell playing any dx9 game. also although the 6200 has gddr2 ram it ain't that fast and only has a 64 bit interface whilst the ati 9200 has slower ram but twice the bus width which should help.

you might try browsing some of the older charts for a comparison if you can find something similar.

What type of games do you expect to play?
Perhaps Civilization.

I would hate for you to spend the money and to have the games not even be able to load much less be playable.

its not good theory.

I told him he wouldn't be able to play newer games without spending more money. Just need something descent.

or, I mean cheap

That card would Load Halo.
He will likely need to ensure the screen resolution is set to no higher than 1024x768 and all graphic settings to minimum.

are you sure that the computer doesn't have either an agp slot or a pci-e slot? because if it does, you can get far better performance.

Well... PCI has terrible bandwidth, all low-end overpriced cards...

Might as well not even bother with it. What's ur CPU and integrated GPU as of now?

Has to be PCI. It's a Dell Dimension 2350, Pentium 4 1.8ghz

I honestly think that your $50 should be invested in a new computer (whether that be tomorrow or a year from now). A simple $500 costume computer built today can be about 4 times more powerful and still include a midrange graphics card.

I'm going to have to agree with everyone here. PCI cards are so weak and overpriced, you might as well stick with on-board.
