Getting a ds3l and q6600 or e8400(whichever is cheaper when I buy) in the next month or so. Which ram would yield a better OC ddr2 800 or 1066 my budget is $50-$80

thanks in advance for any help on this

If you get good quality DDR2-800 you should be able to take it up to 1000MHz if not 1066MHz anyway. You probably won't need more then DDR2-800 even when overclocking a Q6600 as that lets you take it up to 3.6GHz at a 1:1 memory ratio. The E8400 can also get to 3.6GHz with DDR2-800 and can get up to just over 4GHz with DDR2-900, a speed that should be attainable by quality DDR2-800 like Crucial Ballistix or G-Skill HZ.

Patriot Extreme or Mushking HP2 or Crucial ballistix or Corsair XMS2 with timing 4-4-4-12.

Get the cheapest out of the 4 brand and you can easily OC those to 1060mhz and more which is way enough for an e8400 ( since it'll give it 4.5ghz )
