Ok so im not liking the temps that im getting out of my new Zerotherm Zen FZ120, so i have decided to reapply the thermal past and lap the Heatsink to make it shiny and smooth. I will not do this however if my the temps drop in the next few days, because people say AS5 has a break in period. Right now im getting 49C on speed fan for my E8400 and my case is well ventalated (Antec 900) so i came to the conclusion it must be the heatsink. I need some opinons on this as well as do i need to pull out my motherboard again if the back mouning plate is already on.

well as5 has a rather long break in period, maybe a couple weeks, but that shouldn;t do much for that temperature.. maybe you should use another temp program and see how that works?

use realtemp to check your temp again.

i think you should enderstand the fact you the break in period is not a time for the thermal paste to do its magic.you wont see much more then 3C drop in temp.its a wrong impression the manufacture put out.
