I finally picked up my E8400 proc for my build. It's funny it was sold out on newegg & buy.com, then newegg raised the price to $250. Well I had an ad\flyer come in with MicroCenter having it for $199 (I live in Houston, Tx), they had 25 out of 31 left for ever a week and I bought it for $215 (good old tax) out-the-door.

So $215 total isn't a bad price for a E8400.

MicroCenter had a great price which is surprising for a local Retail Store.

mlporta i live in SE houston myself and picked up the E8400 for 189.99 ($205.66 after tax) I also picked up the Antec 900 there for $79.99 and a Zalman CNPS9500LED for $48.99. again not a bad deal for a store with overhead expences.

You must have got it a few weeks ago when they had them for $189.99 which is a heck-of-a-deal lucky stiff :kaola:

Wish I was paying attention then  but $10 more and now I have it is good with me.

What was so funny is a few people on the forum were saying MicroCenter it's $189.99 and I was clue-less as I don't go to that side of the town too often and forgot MicroCenter was even here in Houston... well at least I remember my name which isn't too bad for an old geezer :D

Even with that heatsink?

It doesn't hurt to try but the temps would probably skyrocket to 60C at idle and 72-75C on Load. I would probably get something a lot better though.

The AC 7 is a great cooler I got my P4 up to 4.00 GHz temps were mild 47 degrees fully loaded. With my C2D 4400 overclocked to 2.67 GHz an all throttling off I was idling at a balmy 37 degrees under load I got up to 45 degrees.

Are you sure about that? Thats a little to cool there especially for a E4400 idling at 37C and at 45C on load.

I have my E6300 @ 3 ghz and give off more heat at 50C on idle and 63C on full load.

Well that CPU can for sure hit 4 ghz now. I'm having a hard running my CPU at 3.4 ghz on Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro because its running way too hot so, I'll be happy with it at 3 ghz. But never the less enjoy the E8400.
