I plan to take out an internet service plan and share it with my friend living 500-600 m (1200 ft) away from me.
He has a laptop using 802.11g card and i have a Belkin mmo g broadband router(does not have removable antenna nor WDS option) connected over cat-5 to my desktop. Both Pcs running windows xp sp3
All i want to do is mainly share the internet access and i know how to configure security and the router. I need help with the hardware side of actually using radio signals for the physical layer of communication.
Solution 1
Buy 2 linksys wrt54g routers and flash with dd-wrt to allow wireless bridging and attach external antenna to each linksys with WDS (wireless bridging) enabled,I dont know if this will work nor what antenna to use since my budget is US$250.
P.S there is some interference between the buildings by trees and a couple houses. Also there is no law in my country against wifi standards and equipment nor modification.
also this is the router i have a
can i use this in my situation in any way other than as my primary DNS server?
