More Information

I over tightened the screws on my heatsink, and it broke the threads on the backplate, so now when I attempt to unscrew the screws, the bolt just keeps on spinning, and the screw won't come out. I have tried to get a grip on the bolt, but it's flush with the backplate, and I can't get a grip on it.

Any ideas? I am about ready to get some bolt cutters and cut the HSF off of my processor (I am doing a mobo/hsf upgrade anyway) but if there's any way to get this thing out, I'd be glad to hear it. I was considering soldering the bolt back in place, but was worried that the heat might mess up the mobo (it works fine, im just moving to a newer one) but I guess the motherboard could be expendable, I want my q6600 back.
