I have had a look on the internet and i can't find anything. Wonder if any one else knows?

What i'd like to know is.......How good is the Cell processor in the Playstaion 3 compared to the best processes we use in our PC's aka intels/AMD's.

All info good

Thanks

Not this again. spuddyt is right. But in comparison the Cell is great for its purpose. But in a PC enviroment it wouldn't be able to touch the abilities of say a QX9650. For PC's Cell is just crap. For the PS3 its nice. But still can't beat good old PC graphics haha!!!

This is like comparing apples and oranges. The cell processor is very good at what it does, but is not nearly as versatile as a conventional CPU. A better comparison might be made between the Cell processor and a GPU, although the Cell processor is more versatile than a GPU.

A good basic synopsis of what the Cell processor does well and not so well can be found on the Folding@Home website.

Definetly apples and oranges...

Although there are alot of places (uni's, researchers) that are using PS3's in clusters for real world calculations... apparently its the fast and cheap alternative to super computers
