I hav a Seagate 500GB sata ST3500820AS(OS drive) + Seagate 160gb
I had installed windows XP-sp3 few months ago.
Decided to partition remaining 180 GB's of the drive(500GB) later.

See the pictures... I am unable to UNdelete(using partionMagic) or allocate the UNallocated partion.
The option "New Partion..." is grayed out in Disk Management. :ouch:

Any suggestions APPRECIATED.

PS:I always screw with service(in administrative tool). Did I disable some service???

Its because you have 4 Primary partitions...

NTFS only allow 4 primary paritions OR 3 Primary and 1 extended (the extended partition can then have more partitions)

You have reached the limit therefore no more. You need to delete a partition and make it an extended partition.

Edit: Sorry its an MBR limitation.

Problem solved. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
I ADDED to unallocated space to the drive residing just before the unallocated space(in this case L:)
so now my L: dirve is ( 91(as before) + 185(unallocated) ) GB

This was done by resizing the L: drive with Norton Partion Magic :sol:
Got a insanely big drive though

Like chookman said, you CAN add more partitions, as long as they reside in the EXTENDED partition, in which you already have drive E:... All you have to do is move the free space IN the extended partition, and create a new one in there!
