This site worked for me yesterday. I happen to look at it, and saw that NewEgg had the E8400. I ordered it, and 2 mins later it was out of stock again. It was in stock for 5 mins. If you keep checking this site it will help. It also has a inventory history. Hope this helps some of you.

where have all the supplies gone? seems every store is out, why the shortage? its a very popular item you would think intel would be mass producing it and e-tailers would be stocking it.

newegg is 100% automated it even uses robots to pick stuff to put in baskets

only the slave labor packs it they get to use the peanut machine!

It wasn't there at all this after noon when I made my post. The only things that game up after a search for "E8400" were two gaming computers from CyberPower.

Because Intel is converting their Factories over.
They can't simply flip a switch and start producing a different chip.

It will not be until Q3 of this year that they are actually making more 45nm than 65nm.

Part of the issue is with the 45nm Quads that had some issues with certain cheap mobos that forced them to issue a C1 stepping from the original C0.

As a Result they had execpted to have less demand for the E8xxx chips because the Q9xxx would be drawing away some of the demand but they did not ship and it messed with things a little.

It looks like in the next couple days there should be E8200,Q9300, and possibly more chips hitting the market. This should help spread demand.

However, I would not really expect prices to come down for a few more months as even more Fabs are converted over.

They are only makeing 100000 45nm chips a month sadly 3 fabs isn't enough to feed the market.

Word, Playa.
