Hi

Nice site this Toms is
just discovered it about a month ago.

I built a new computer this week.
its a nice upgrade from my early generation P4

I would like to know what is better for overclocking?
the BIOS, the ASUS software, or AMD Overdrive.

I am not interested much of an overclock, just enough to learn something new.

I have a AMD X2 5000+ BE
and Asus M3A78-T

I am thinking the BIOS is the best option but am not sure.
I would like to know the pros/cons of each option is possible.

More about : amd overdrive bios overclock

I always overclock with the BIOS because not every motherboard has special software to overclock it. If you're new to it though, read some tutorials so you don't mess anything up.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

here's a K8 overclocking guide:
http://forums.amd.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=11&th...

as a general rule:
bios overclocking is considered better
AOD needs to be reloaded or start at bootup to work
A black edition chip is easy to overclock through raising the multiplier. raising the FSB is much harder.
