I recently purchased (yesterday ) a new 12v computer with a Zotac Ion motherboard and an Intel 80gb SSD Dive.
I powered the machine up and everything was fine - a few drivers loaded for a multiplexer in the system, mouse etc
I then dowloaded and installed the following
Firefox
ESET smart security
Microsoft xp updates
and tried to reboot the system.
The computer stops at the windows install page (before the welcome page)
with a faded screen and no further action occurs
In trying to access Safe mode the computer stops at a driver btHidBus.sys
In trying to do a restore using the xp cd it stops as soon as the Windows setup notification occurs at the bottom of the page
Currently therefore I am unable to detect a problem and cannot reinstall windows xp SP3
Has anyone got any suggestion of what the problem may be and how to resolve it
Regards
Brian

Hi, Did you download malicious software tool with the microsoft updates.

I had this problem after installing that. Try restoring BIOS defaults.

Sent a reply back to you but not sure it went
I tried your solution although I did not download that particular item from Microsoft - at least not intentionally and reset BIOS to failsfe mode - it worked!
Many thanks for your assistance I had never thought that could happen.
