After updating my bios this past week I started taking a closer look at some of it's options/features.

IDE-->AHCI caught my eye and after a few days of googling I decided to set it up last night (still not sure if it really even helps anything).

My question though, is IMSM needed to take advantage of the features of AHCI? A lot of articles seem vague regarding this issue. Others allude to the fact Vista might not need it as it has native support for AHCI.

Basically, I wanted to come here and actually ask the question ... under Vista 64, is IMSM needed?

Side question, what is your opinion of AHCI in general?
