Hello everybody. I'm from Brazil and registered today in Tom's Hardware Forums.
Having in mind that a lot of people own ASUS M2N-E SLi and other motherboards with 1.95v limit, I decided to list all DDR2 800mhz non-Value Dual Channel (2GB and 4GB) memories showing that there are good options at <1.95v.
PS.: I haven't found any Crucial and Patriot non-Value models under 1.95v.
PS[2]: I would like a help to list all <1.95v motherboards.
PS[3]: I have these data in Excel format too: http://www.zshare.net/download/1023795187ddc96a/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I am going to my particular problem.
My config is: ASUS M2N-E SLi, AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+, XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX, Kingston ValueRAM DDR2 667mhz 1GB, WesternDigital Caviar 80GB IDE, Huntkey GS450W, Samsung 932BW, WinXP Professional SP2 x86.
My use in PC is:
Designer (CorelDraw, Adobe CS3, etc); Soft~Mid Gamer (NFSS, FIFA, NBA, BF, CS, etc) ; Internet (browser w/ nearly 10 tabs opened + MSN + WMP) ; Soft Overclocker (X2 3800+ @2.2ghz, and some anothers i will make).
I will make a upgrade in the RAM and HD. I decided for the HD Seagate Barracuda SATA II 7200.11 500GB 32mb, is it a good choice?.
For the RAM, I have 3 options:
a) Buy a 4GB kit and upgrade to a 64bits OS.
b) Buy a 4GB it but keep WinXP x86 for better compatibility with drivers, smaller programs, etc
c) Buy a 2GB kit to get better models for the money (for sample: OCZ Special OPS).
Which option should I choose? What RAM should I buy and what OS should I use?
1. Barracuda SATA II 7200.11 500GB 32mb. OK !!
2. Just get (2x2GB) DDR2 800mhz ( 4GB )
3. Vista 64 is getting better all the time, so 64 is way of the future.
Hi Jpain.
Thank you for reply!
I posted the same doubt in some brazilian forums, and all the answers were the option a).
Veery probably i'll pick the Seagate, a 4gb kit and install Vista Ultimate 64.
But I still very doubtful about the memory.
I liked very much these four models:
Kingston HyperX 4-4-4-12 1.95v
GeiL Evo One 4-4-4-12 1.9-2.0v
GeiL Esoteria Rev2 4-4-4-12 1.9-2.5v
Transcend aXeRam 4-4-4-12 1.8v
For soft overclocking (I will up my 3800+ to 2,2 ~ 2,4ghz), which model should I choose?
Thanks in advance
