Q6700 is Q6600 with slightly higher multiplier. This means higher potential overclock. However, if you're not looking into over-3.6Ghz overclocking, Q6600 should be fine.

Is the Q6700 worth waiting till April 20th (Price drops 50%)or should I just get a Q6600 now?
What is the real difference between the two processors? Is the Q6700 just like a factory OC'd Q6600?
The q6700 is cut from closer to the center of the wafer. It's a better grade of base material.
It will overclock higher, and generally last longer. Still not worth today's price difference, but if it's no pain to wait,
put off the decision till after the pricedrop, then compare value.
Lasting longer is hardly an important issue when people who buy those chips don't usually buy them for 10 years
Exactly. The q6600 will last longer than 15yrs if it's not OCd. The q6700 will last as long if it's not OCd.
But the Q6600 will probably only last 10 + years @ the extra 266mhz, if it's run @ Q6700 speed.
If OCd to 3.6, the Q6600 may not last 10 years, while the Q6700 probably will. I wouldn't want to be stuck with a 10 year old chip, so how much extra is the Q6700 worth? Not much in my books.
On the other hand, the Q6700 is more likely to make it to 3.9ghz. How much is that worth? Not the diference in price today, but if it's only a few bucks in April, it just may be.
