A couple of questions.
I have an Asus Maximus Formula & 4 Gig PC9600 (1200 MHz) DDR2 RAM.
Problem is that CPU-Z under heading SPD only shows PC6400.
Now I heard that CPU-Z can't show any higher. (Something to do with JEDEK limitations)
So to those of you who have RAM quicker than PC6400 (800MHz).
Question Nr.1 IS that true or does CPU-Z show your RAMs real value? ie. PC8500, PC9200 etc.
My MoBo runs my RAM as PC6400 at default settings which puzzles me coz it states clearly on Asus website that it does support higher RAM ie. PC9600. I heard that this was also due to JEDEK and I would have to manually set everything in the bios for it to run at 1200MHz (or at least higher than 800MHz). So to all you Asus Maximus Formula owners out there.
Question Nr.2 Is that true or does your MoBo run your RAM at its proper settings?
Please make a confused gamer happy and answer this post if you can. Your time and effort is very much appreciated.
Bilko out.

Q1: Yes, it should show what the RAM is currently running at under "Memory" tab.

Q2: To run at PC9600 you probably need to change SPD value manually in BIOS. It is running at DDR2 800 probably to ensure correct 1st booting.

^ Correct

you will need to set the ram to the manufacturer settings in the BIOS including the voltage... which fot that RAM i would assume would be ~2.0-2.2v
