.....

In my last forum... I compared E2200 to E4500 and if the cache size really does matter...

In my theoretical analysis and hours of research, Im finally sticking in building a system with a E2xx cpu.

Im trying to find an up-to-date review of E2200 but as of now I only have reviews for E2180.

Well.. Let me refresh your minds regarding these cheap cpus:

E2200 - 800fsb 2.2 ghz M0 stepping

E2180 - 800fsb 1.80 ghz M0 stepping

ok.... so this my mobo will be XFX nforce 680i LT.. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/xfx_680_lt/

and cooler is CM Hyper TX2

I want to know which of these processors will overclock better and would be safer to reach 3.6 ghz..

Hi..... Glad to see you post here again.... ;) (hehe)

3.6Ghz overclock? That's a little high, I think it would be even hard to reach a 3.2Ghz overclock. 3.6 may be possible, but certainly not healthy for the hardware involved.

If I remember correctly there would be some issues regarding nForce motherboards..... Can someone verify?

is The E2180, 2160, and 2200 have the same overclocking ability? Is the difference between these cpus is just the multiplier?

If they are all based on the M0 stepping then yes, they should have similar overclocking headroom.

I bought the e2160 merely because it's cheaper, and by quite a lot over here. I'm going to be happy with 3ghz, it's just sat at 2.4ghz ATM because I haven't had it long.

Theoretically the e2200 will put less strain on your RAM if you run 1:1. I think there would be little (if any) difference on your overall overclock.

In your first post, you stated the e2180 has having a clock speed of 1.8ghz. However, it has a clock speed of 2ghz, the e2160 is 1.8.

I think you'll be happy with the e2xxx series whichever cpu you go for.

I have a E2180 (stock 2GHz; not 1.8). I can push it to ~ 3.2. That is tops. It goes from 2.0 to 3.0 with no voltage increase. I have more then enough cooling, so I am not cooling limited (coolit freezone). 3.2 is the absolute tops I can get out of it (stable). I could have done the E 2160 and gotten the same thing for top OC speed. Don't waste more money then you have to. OC's vary from chip to chip. Your odds with a 2160 of getting past 3.2 aren't any worse then taking the 2200 past 3.2. Luck

I just got an e2180. I got it to 3.2 GHz with little trouble, and I am a certified OC amateur. Temps hover around 25-28 degrees, and my voltage is between 1.35 and 1.36. I actually went with a lower multiplier, because on my mobo with my RAM, it was the most stable (8 x 400 MHz). I have no interest in going any higher, but considering how stable it has been over the last month (ie.., no anomalies, etc.), I might be able to get a smidgen more out of it. But I don't think 3.6 MHz is realistic. I don't recall any review or post claiming a stable 3.6.

On paper, the 2200 just gives one more multiplier, but the "word on the street" is that the 2180 OCs better than the 2200. In fact, supposedly in the latest manufacturing runs, the 2160 OCs better than the 2180. I wish I had a reference to that post, but I don't so take it for what it is worth.

Good luck!

Hello,

I've just bought a computer with the E2200 in it, and I'd really like to overclock it to just 2.8 to 3.0, I have adequate cooling and would need to know what settings to change in the bios to overclock it to that level.

Can someone advise me on the settings to change to get it to OC to 2.8 to 3.0 please?

Thank you for your time.

Wow, if the other person has the same cpu that I have, wouldn't it be more convienient and expeditious to just have them tell me what settings they used so that I have a starting position for this particular cpu.
