I received my 'new' system today but I'm still looking for a decent Graphics Card under €100,-

My system:

  • Mem:G.E.I.L.L. 2 GB DDR2-800 Kit
  • Case: Elite 331
  • Mobo: Gigabyte P35-DS3L
  • CPU: PentiumĀ® Dual-Core E2160
  • HDD: Deskstar 7K160 (80 GB)
  • PSU: Coolermaster RealPower 460W
  • Resolution:1440x900

What card would you guys suggest ?

I already searched at several webshops and I found :

  • Sapphire Radeon HD3650,512MB, DDR3 € 89,23

  • MSI RX2600XT €103 (heatpipe edition)

  • Club3D GeForce 8600 GT Overclocked Edit € 115,26

8600GT Overclocked I'd say... but then again it's very pricey.

The 3650 looks a good buy, probably will overclock well too... and its got more features than the other 2. Aswell as being cheapest.

Or, spend a tiny bit more and get the 8800GS... that'll blow away those cards mentioned above.

An HD3850 or 8800GS will be much faster than any of those cards for not much more money.

About €140 is my max. but if 15 euros buys me a lot more performance then i'll buy that one

Which one to buy?

I saw that the 3870 was only 10 euros extra, so how about that one?

  • PEAK Radeon HD3870 512MB 256bit DDR4 PCI-E16x € 155,14

http://www.peakhardware.com/produc [...] &B=9&C=64#

  • XFX GeForce 8800GS,384MB, GDDR3, PCI Express x16 € 146,38

  • Zotac GeForce 9600GT,GDDR3, PCI Express x16, 512MB €158,-

http://www.zotac.com/index.php?opt [...] Itemid=284

I like this one(HD3850) the most because of the price and it has almost the same performance as a 8800gs 384mb according to some benchmarks

Sapphire Radeon HD3850,256MB, GDDR3, PCI Express x16 € 139,02
http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/pro [...] =200&grp=3

I found a really cheap one:
Peak Radeon HD 3850 512mb DDR3 256bit PCI-E € 129,95

Of those cards the 9600GT is the fastest. Either get that or an HD3870, but get the 9600GT is they're the same price.

If money is real tight you could get by with a 512MB HD3850, but the 9600GT or HD3870 are worth the extra € in my opinion.

I think that i'm going to buy the 3870, it has gddr4 and it has better speeds

Not a bad choice, but I must inform you that the 9600GT is a slightly faster card. Here's a review that compares the two:

Enjoy :)

it's a pity that there aren't any benchmarks of the Peak HD3870 or the Zotac 9600GT(can't find any)

I've read that the 3870 manufactured by certain brands were faster than the 9600GT, but I've never heard of PEAK or ZOTAC before. So it's hard to determine if those two are quality brands or not.

If I remember, the ati 3870 does slightly better without AA, and the gf 9600 does slightly better with AA. Which the benchmarks that homerdog linked confirm.

Ok, I know enough. I'm ordering a 9600GT now :)

EDIT: make that ordered.
