Is my Chipset tempurature too high?

Quad core Q6600 2.6
Chipset tempurature in bios screen is 84C...my core temp is 46C
Is something wrong?

I would say the chipset temp is high. Ideally it should hang around 50C...give or take a few. Your core is a bit high, but nothing to even worry about.

That is high! If your chipset heatsink doesn't have a fan on it how about getting a Antec Spot Cool fan. It comes mounted on a stalk so you can aim it where needed and it has three speeds. You can buy it at Bestbuy if you are in the U.S. for $23.00. If your chipset heatsink has a fan already you need to clean it and get some airflow in that case!

Yeah, that's pretty high for a chipset. Does it have active cooling? If it's only got passive cooling then see if you can't install a fan on it somewhere. What motherboard do you have?

I didn't know a chipset could get that hot just in the BIOS, the sensor readout could be wrong, but blowing some air over the chipset should tell you if it is or isn't accurate.

touch it if it doesnt burn your hand in 2 second then the sensor is giving you the wrong reading.or you can invest in a laser spot thermometer to monitor the temp.
