Not much of a gamer any more, but I was looking to get a cheap single slot 3870 to hold me over until the 4870 or 4870X2. However, would one of the below two video cards be enough for gaming at least at 30FPS with 1920x1200 for Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance and World of Warcraft?

$200 - Sapphire 3870 (was $184 last night :fou: )

$250 Sapphire 3870 Toxic

Also, was maybe looking to get the below card to crossfire with one of the above to boost some FPS. However, I don't see a crossfire port on the top? It says "CrossFire Supported", yet, has nowhere for the crossfire bridge?

$80 - Sapphire 3650

I think it should be okay as long as you dont use any AA on some newer games. you may need to turn down the detail and texture sizes to medium on particularly demanding titles (crysis, witcher) aswell. For world of warcraft it will handle that resolution no problems even with AA.

I think your crossfire idea is pointless. Model independent crossfire is still very new (not even sure if its 100% supported yet) and will likely lower your 3870 clocks by so much that your performance is unlikely benefit at all.

Absolutely. There will be a small handful of titles (like Crysis) that you'll be forced to lower some detail though - not to the point of making it look terrible, just disabling a couple bells and whistles.

But for most things it'll work smooth as butter.

not 100% on SupCom, but if yo've got a good/fast quad, you ought to be good ;)... dunno if you'll meet 30 consistent...

Yeah, like AMD_fanboi said, If you have at least a Q6600 you will be fine.
