How to delete unused drive letters in windows xp

When I get to disk management window, only the assigned disk drives are listed. the unused letters do not show so how can I delete them?

Bit confusing request. What unused drive letters are you seeing? Windows would not just add drive letters to My Computer for no reason. Do you have a multi-card reader by any chance? Those tend to add 3,5,6 new drive letters to systems.
