hehe a friend of mine try my 8800gt.
He has a gateway with 300watt power supply.

The card sorta scream, and nvidia keeps power up a notice a bout
lack of power. So its not a good idea. 450watt min.

Your best chance with a 300watt is a 8600 is your max.
7900gs is what most 300 watt user is getting or a ati card.

Well your 300W is probably a no name brand, so it can't even deliver what they claim. The Card won't run properly. Additionally, assuming you can get it to run, your PSU will be overloaded and it will blow up taking several components with it, the first being the mobo. So you will get to upgrade to the latest stuff. See it's all good.

450w @ 26amps
That's what Nvidia said when it was first released.
Evga does say 400w @ 22amps, but also says 450w @24amps for SLI (which I wouldn't trust).
