I need someone to help me please. I am in the process to build a new PC this time once again, but I'm not sure which motherboard I should buy for my setup.
I have bought the following so far:

Intel Q9450 processor 2.66GHz, 6MBx2, 1333MHz, Socket T LGA 775
Corsair Dominator 4GB PC2-8500 DIMM TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF
BFG 8800 GTX OC 768MB
2x Western Digital Caviar WD7500AAKS (RAID 0)

I wish to have a good motherboard for gaming, overclocking and multitasking. Keep in mind that I will NOT install (2) video cards because it's too expensive! Please advise.

Thank you.

That RAM is a waste of money... the Q9450 will only utilise 667mhz at 1:1 a good set of low CAS 800mhz would be half the price and just as good.

8800GTX??? why not the 9800GTX??? it out does that 8800 and its cheaper and cooler

As for mobo, you could go with a GA-P35-DS3R which is cheap and will run your setup fine. If you want more features id look at the Asus P5K-e. And if you have more money than that you could go with either Gigabyte or ASUS on a x38 chipset which will add PCI-e2.0 support (which is really needed at current.)

The 8800 GTX video card is my existing video card. I'm just upgrading my motherboard, ram and processor.
Why is a low CAS 667mhz ram any better than the 1066mhz?
Any good Asus on a x38 chipset? Stiker?

oh ok... then good for the GTX :) wish i had one

im not saying that the 1066 is bad im just saying you can get cheaper for just as good performance.

To my knowledge any of the Asus x38's are good, Striker is high end.

If I plan to overclock isn't it easier to get 1066 mhz RAM instead of the 800mhz?

Reply to jeliash

even if you plan to OC the 800mhz would get you to 3.2ghz at 1:1 if you want to go higher than that i would suggest getting the 1066mhz part as at least this way you will only have one unknown which is the CPU you know the RAM can match then.

1066mhz could take you to 4.26ghz without overclocking RAM further than manufacturer spec.

1066MHz is really OCed 800MHz RAM that has been certified to run faster.

I just bought the Abit IP35 Pro for my build. Now I'm just fishing around for a Q9450 CPU. I am simply using two sticks of Corsair XMS DDR 800 2GB RAM.

------------------------------ Q9450 |Corsair XMS 4GB DDR 800 | ABit IP35 Pro | HD 5850 | Audigy 2 | Seasonic S12 550 | Cooler Master Centurion 532 | NEC LCD2690WUXi and Planar PX2611w | WinXP
