I've got a 1TB USB Maxtor hard drive and wasn't sure how to zero fill it?

It got corrupted so wanted to give it a clean wipe.

I tried SeaTools for Windos but that did not work.

I have Windows XP 64bit.

grab a linux live iso like knoppix. boot it.
run shred on drive ( fills drive with random info).
you can kill shred after 1 pass ( default is 25)

Knoppix is a a LINUX OS that will boot from a CD/DVD no matter what you have installed on your hard drives. One warning is that you choose the correct hard drive :)
