To possibly run SLI in the future, you want to be looking at 590i or 650i chipset motherboards with your budget. I use to have a Asus P5N32-SLI Premium (590i) which I was very pleased with but it may stretch your budget slightly as I'm not sure what prices are like in the US. As for the 650i, you can try looking at the EVGA 650i Ultra or the Asus P5N-E. Hope this gives you an idea.

i read that the XXXi chipset motherboards are bad and i read P35 chipset motherboard are good so im probably getting that. here it is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131225 . any thoughts?

also, which CPU fan should i get for my q6600 2.4ghz, that i wont overclock, in the antec 900 case? looks like something around $25 and gives good preformance. should i get this or help me choose another one.

by the way, how load is 0.9 sone? its on the arctic freeze CPU fan

XXXi mobos are not that bad I must say. Especially if you are considering 2xNVIDIA GPU, then it is the only choice. I don't think a P35 can run SLI, esp. since it's default can only one PCIe 16x.

If you are not considering to overclock, the default fan (that come with the CPU) is enough. I'm running E6750 CPU extensively (for gaming, movie, work etc) and have no problem with default fan.

M4er1c - I would have recommended the P35 but you say you want to possibly add another 8800GTS in the future and no Intel chipets can currently do that. You need to get an nVidia chipset if you want to run SLI, Intel chipset if you want to run Crossfire.
