Well I'm ready to order everything for my computer, and I'm sick of waiting on e8400's

Should I just buy an e8500 or a e3110? I've heard the 3110's are basically the exact same thing.

You can find an E8500?
AFAIK Intel only released E8400 and E3110 on January 20th.
I don't know if the E3110 is exactly the same as the E8400.
As for E8200 and E8500 I believe they have only been shipped to OEM customers.

Do you have link for a retailer who has E8500 cpu's in stock and shipping?

the 8500 is a fairly big jump whereas the e3110 can generally be had for cheaper than the 8400 (at least from the stores ive seen) and the only differnce is it carries the Xeon name which will mean  the CPU is higher binned

Id go for the e3110 if you can get it

Go with your budget, and have a heatsink to support it.  none are a bad option.

Its like the athlon MP,  its just a desktop chip that happens to be unlocked and ready to go in MP situations, or run on a desktop board as a workstation.

Has anyone recieved their $200-210 Buy.com e8400's?  I got sick of waiting for mine and hate paying a premium because of low supply/high demand.

edit: I like this one.  availability = yes.  But click to see real time availability and they are backordeed a few thousand. :)

I've never actually seen the E8500 available in stock anywhere (or E8200, for that matter). BTW,  I just received an e-mail from ZipZoomFly.com that the E8400 is in stock and shipping
...but at $279. I don't think we'll see $189 E8400's anytime soon. I'm happy that I got my E3110 a few weeks ago for $218 after an E8400 disappeared out of my shopping cart at TigerDirect.

I've never read real evidence to prove the temperature sensing hardware integrated in the new Intel 45nm processors is defective.

I bought my E8400 on January 20th. It's over clocked to 1600MT/s FSB (3.6GHz) with the CPU voltage set to automatic using a standard Intel copper core heat sink fan unit. The E8400 is on a X38 board with DDR3 memory clocked at 800MHz (PC3 12800).

Anyway my idle temperature averages 29C and full load temperature under stress testing gets up to 62C.

What I have learned. Persons experiencing unusual temperatures for their E8400 processors are not updating their motherboard BIOS to properly identify the E8400 processor.

Research first before hopping aboard the FUD bandwagon.
