I'm thinking of building a new system for my friend, and he only has a mouse and monitor, and i have a pretty decent budget to work with. I want to sli two 8800gt's but i don't know if they're completely compatible with the motherboard I've chosen.
8800GT (2)
Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe, with the nVidia 590 chipset
is that chipset able to support the pcie 2.0 cards? i heard that nVidia's cards weren't compatible with older mobos with pcie 1.0 and 1.1.
8800GT has no compatibility issue with 590 chipset, but why not use the latest 780i? 590 is old and picky with RAM. New build and pretty decent bidget should equal the latest 780 chipset IMO.
I'm running a pair of 8800GT's on a 939 mobo that is most definitely not PCI-e 2.0.
