Problem: New ECS AMD690GM-M2 board.....XP SP2 detects onboard audio as a "PCI Device", but fails to register the hardware despite trying several different drivers.
I've searched, and while others are having issues with this board (and even some with the onboard audio), they all seem to have had some luck in getting the onboard audio drivers to work. I cannot. I tried the supplied drivers on the ECS CD (they supply Realtek ALC880 & VIA AC'97....neither work), the ALC883 driver download from the ECS website, the ALC880 & ALC883 drivers direct from Realtek, AC'97 drivers direct from VIA, and a bunch of secondhand supplied drivers that have claimed success (from driverguide, etc...). Nothing works. The audio is listed as ATI Azalia in the BIOS, as ALC883 from Newegg & ECS, and as either VIA AC'97 or ALC880 from the ECS CD. <shrug>
Any help? What drivers did some of you use that have had success with this onboard audio.
Today I spent almost 6 hours trying to solve the problem..
Go to start->control panel->system->device manager, expand system devices, and see if PCI bus has yellow exclamation mark, if it is so, right click on this PCI bus with excla. mark and click on update driver, click then next next next, if installation is succesfull than the audio device should work
