Hello,

First time putting a build together.  I got a Biostar TA770 board with a Thermaltake 500W Purepower PSU.  Now my question is the pin connector on the MOBO is a 8pin for the +12V.  However, the PSU has a 4-pin +12V connector.

Can I plug that 4 pin in the 8 pin?  Will it work? Or do  I need to get a new PSU?

Thanks.

The 4 pin should work just fine.

It should work fine, most motherboards will.  If it doesn't boot or it keeps freezing/rebooting while running, this might be the problem.  If you plan on overclocking, get the 4pin to 8pin adapter because your motherboard will need the extra juice. :)  Plan on putting it together and getting it running and order the part, when it comes in, take 30 seconds to add the adapter just to be safe. :)

Thanks for input so far.  I will try it as is.  Just kicking myself for not getting a 8 pin PSU...dumb me.
