Hi all,

the question i have is the next:

I want to upgrade my 7900 GS to an 8800 GT. I think this will improve my overall peformance in games.
But the problem is my processor. I have a Pentium 4 630 3.0 Ghz.
Will this processor bottleneck my 8800 GT much or not. I can run call of duty 2 fine with my 7900 GS but call of duty 4 is getting harder. Thats why i want to upgrade.

Thanks in Advance

Tom

Well, I currently have an athlon x2 4200+. I had a 7900GS and upgraded to the 8800GT. I know my cpu is bottlenecking my in some games, but the performance increase over the 7900GS is worth it. COD4 is now smooth with fairly high settings (No AA). Crysis improved greatly, but is still laggy. Mainly cause of my cpu. I can really see it when I blow up a shack and the peices fly everywhere.

Also, could you tell us what chipset your motherboard has? That will let us know if you can upgrade to a new cpu.

Though since it is a dell, you are pretty much screwed when it comes to overclocking.

if you just upgrade your gpu, you will see minimal performance increase from a 7900gs.
