Wmm avi 12GB

Hello,
I transfered 4 mini-dv cassettes onto ext hdd and one of the 4 avi (12GB) files created from those 4 cassettes shuts down the Windows Explorer even on opening its directory, before opening the file itself. No notification/error/etc from Windows.
Help much appreciated.

Run chkdsk on the drive...

Start>run>CMD

Enter this: Chkdsk <Drive letter:> /r
