Windows XP Restarting to a Black Screen

Hi Guys,

I just bought a new laptop and wiped Windows 7 from the disk and installed XP. (I am running some very old software which I bought the laptop for and the drivers for the associated hardware have a few issues in Windows 7).

However, I have a strange problem. Whenever I restart the computer, after the Windows XP loading screen it just goes black and I can't see anything! But then when I turn it off and turn it back on again, it loads in fine.

What could be the issue?

Try reformatting the computer again. I just had the same problem. Sometimes, it doesnt like loading the software correctly the first time. I know it jumps right to reformatting, but my experience has showed me that if the first reformat doesnt succeed, try try again
