Heya

I just got an Antec Nine Hundred case, for my computer. But the P4 connector is just a few inches too short, I've realized I can't get an extension cord for it, so I'm looking for a new PSU.

The connector on the mainboard is as far away from the PSU as it can be, so it needs to be long. I had a very good RaptoxX 600W PSU, so I need something in that wattage range. (This is the one with too short wires). I have considered to extend the wires manually, but I don't like that. There is still warranty on the PSU, for starters. Secondly I'm clumsy when it comes to such things.

I have an E4400 Core2 Duo CPU, 1 hdd, 1 optical drive and a 8800GT gfx-card.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

what do you mean you can't get a extension for it? shops are full of those, just look around the local computer shops. Those cost couple of euros/dollars, lot cheaper than a new PSU...

If you have good soldering skills, you could cut the connector off and splice an extension from a dead PSU. With a little care, you can do a really neat job.

ocz's gamerxstream 700w has good wire length, and a pretty blue fan to match the case. I have no problem routing the p4 power wire. I think its $94 at newegg right now.

If you can not get an extension just get a molex to P4 extensions, much cheaper.

Well, I've tried calling all the people I know who knows about this. I also called a few shops I even visited a shop for this. I just can't find it, and the people I've been talking to says it doesn't exist. Frankly I don't know. Maybe its too late, because I already sold my old computer and it needs a power supply.

Maybe I figure something out. Anyway. Thanks for the help! :)

Anyone know if I would experience the same problem with a Corsair HX series PSU and a 790i in the Antec Nine Hundred? Couldn't find any info on the cable lengths on their website.

I'm not sure why people say the extension cable doesn't exist. Here are some I found online:

http://www.performance-pcs.com/cat [...] ts_id=4640
http://www.svc.com/cbl-extend-12v.html
http://store.pchcables.com/12atx4pinmaf.html

The first one looks nice with the sleeving, but it's also the most expensive. Only problem is that I've never heard of these places, but I couldn't find this kind of cable on the big retailer sites...

Edit: Looked up the stores on resellerratings.com and they got scores of 9.71/8.88/9.81 respectively, so if you can't find the cable locally I would give one of them a try.

I have ordered from performance-pcs a few times and so far all my orders have gone well with fast processing and shipping.  I have even had to email support once and they responded quick and were very helpfull.
