I've been having this weird problem with my p5k pro motherboard.First off, here's my system specs:

Thermaltake armor
corsair 620W ps
evga 8800gt 512 mb
wd 500gb hard drive
dvd burner etc.
4x 1gb corsair xms2 ram
xp 32-bit

here's where the problem is: I knew from the get-go, using xp 32 bit, I wouldn't be able to use all 4 gigs of ram - 3.5gb, maybe.

but instead of 3.5gb, my computer will only recognize 2.68gb of ram! pulling a ram stick out, this only drops to 2.63! I disabled the memory remap feature, and that didn't do anything.

It talks about in the manual for the motherboard of not being able to see past 3gb of ram using four 1gb sticks due to a lack of address space allocation and 32bit OS's lack of a Physical Address Extension.

Anyone know how to bump me up to 3.5gb? any suggestions are appreciated.

How can I fix this? Use 2gb chips instead? Update the BIOS (i'm using version 806)? Return it?
