Alright first let me lay down the specs for you
 
Intel DG33TL Motherboard
Intel Q6600 2.4 Ghz Quad Core CPU
4X 1GB Sticks DDR 800 (Patriot)
1X 500 GB SATA Drive (System)
1X 160 GB Hard Drive (2ED Drive)
1X DVD Writer (IDE)
530 Watt Corsair Power Supply Dual 12 V Rails
RoseWill Case
XFX 8800 GT Alpha Dog XXX Edition 670/975
Viewsonic 22" LCD Primary Monitor 1680X1050
Samsung TV 32 In 2Ed Monitor 1680X1050
 
 
Now despite this being a very nice build it runs like my old P4 3.2 with 1 Gb Ram
 
2ed i should prolly tell you what i want to use the computer for
1-Watching Movies and Shows Some in HD
2-Encodeing Movies to DVD
3- Games Such as Crysis,Bioshock, Marvel Ultimate Alliance.Unreal Tournament 3, Call of Duty 4 (Midto High end Games)
4-Listening to Music
5-Downloading Things from Usenet Useing NINAN in Conjunction with Newzbin
 
Now i am Running Windows Vista Home premium and i kinda want to keep running it  
 
I was wondering what Codecs i should run For Video playback includeing HD Format Suck as MKV/h264 Ect
Also what Player Should i look at getting
What the Best Encoding Software is for Encoding to DVD's  
what Music player offers to best playback of Most Formats
and what Anti virus works well with out impacting the performance of the system to much
 
Any insight would be welcome as I've had this system for about 2 months and so far it just Runs like crap please help me out i built this system so i could play games and i think i should be able to but crysis runs like if it where on a 1 GHz box and well it shouldent after a while on the system it will take 3-4 min to open a Firefox window as where when i first started it up or restart it then it takes a few seconds

run a memory test and prime 95 mite be a bad cpu or memory stick

Ram probably needs more voltage. See if it will run  better with only 2g of ram. If so then yo u need more volts.

Thanks Guy's and Gals if i have the patriot ram in the system right now and according to intel the mother board does not support 2.0 Volt ram witch of course the patriot is i have layeing around ironicly another 4 gig of ram thats 1.8 volt witch is supported by the motherboard could this have caused the probloms im haveing?

There's a lot to know about video/audio conversion. If you have deep pockets, there are some amazing products
that produce very good quality video and audio. There are free programs and programs that cost thousands of dollars. My question is... What level of quality are you looking for, and how much money and time are you willing to spend to achieve this.

i use usenet and can get just about any of the programs out there i was something simple to use Basic encodeing to DVD and sooneer than later to Blue-ray

Cinema Craft Encoder is the best software encoder I know of. There is a learning curve however. Main Concept, Canopus Pro Coder are also very good. You will need to learn how to author dvds and what programs to use, as these programs don't do that. I also use AVI2DVD
to transcode xvid or avi audio (typically pcm audio) to Dvd compliant
AC3.

Also does anyone know if i should just get a SATA DVD Writer or keep the IDE one i have in there now? and if that can cause probloms would an adapter solve the problom?
