I see people using this and many other 20x/22x drives to trier full potential. I don't understand how it's done. Let me tell you what I do know. There is some 16x media that allow burn them at 20x (Media have like info on first sector that drive read and know what disk is it and what speed) and also firmware can be modified to burn disks that 16 on 20 and 22x . Now with all this info I can't find info on DVD+R media that indeed can be burned at 20/22 without Firmware modification. Now about modification all firmware comes in .exe format at list for Lite-On and I can't edit it. When I load firmware in MediaCodeSpeedEdit nothing happens I don't see anything new in window. Can someone kinda explain how I can burn 16x media with 20/22 speeds with whatever method is possible. Also may be someone can point out 22x or 20x burnable media out of the box if there is any.
A little update I decided to make a test and here are interesting results. I have 2 Burners. 1 Internal Lite-On iHAS422 (4L16 Firmware) and one External Sony DRU-840A (SS01) Firmware. I have several types of media and my Sony Burner can Write them at 18x when Lite-On only at 16x ...so is that mean inside firmware for this types of media info is limited to 16x in Lite-On ?
