I was just browsing and apparently @ legit reviews, they had the radeon 3870x2 score 16500 vs what I am getting @ 12500. Is it my system\cpu thats significantly slower than their test system? my specs - x2 6400, ballistix 1x2g, visiontek 3870x2, corsair vx 550watt psu.
I know that their test system is an Intel Core 2 Quad QX9650 thats faster than my system but would that yield such a huge gap in scores?
Your CPU is killing your performance and only two gigs of RAM isnt helping....while probably isnt hurting that much either. My system (below) scores just over 16K. I was getting just over 12K with only 1 3870.
~16100 SM2 = 6327
SM3 = 7493
CPU = 4294
Remember that 4 cores vs only 2 cores makes a big difference in 3DMark06. If your performance is low in games then maybe you could try to overclock your CPU to squeeze out what you can but other then that you may want to upgrade.
