The GT is a good card and will run most games at 1920x1200 fine but I would go with the GTS 512 instead, it's faster and has a better cooler. The cheapest prices on Newegg are $199.99 after rebate for a overclocked MSI GT and $249.99 for the MSI GTS 512, it's worth the extra $50.

anyone else feel this way.. there are a number of 8800 GT card to pick from.. I want with MSI NX8800GT because it was cheaper and didn't need the best video card..

Basically I am doing that because I want to have a fast boot up time.. I dont leave my computer on all the time but like a fast booting computer. I was looking @ two raptor drives in Raid 0. But heard that wasn't worth the money. Was going with Raid 0 7200.11.

If you're already spending that much I'd go with the 8800GTS 512 over the GT. I don't have personal experience with either card but from reviews I've read the GTS has better cooling and has better performance.

It appears that it will only save you 3 seconds on boot time. Here's a review to take a gander at comparing .11s in raid 0 to a single drive .11 and a single drive raptor 150. http://www.nextlevelhardware.com/s [...] acudaraid/

It's the only one I know of covering the .11s in raid 0. You might find another reason for raid 0 in there as well.

thanks.. well I have a large collection of MP3d and videos that I convert. Many I need to convert into iphone format that can be timely. I read the review, looked like for MP3, moving files, or converting filings there is a noticible advantage. But you are right boot up time isn't going to be saving much. The Raptor boot up time is much better but still not with the extra cash.

I have the same hard drives in raid 0, but unfortunately for me I'm using nvidia software raid :-( I'm very tempted to unraid them, and put os and apps on one and page filing etc on the other, for average user with these disks in software raid 0 you won't notice any performance gains.
Intel software raid does have better performance then nvidia. If you have your heart set on raid (like i did) get a hardware raid controller (like I didn't, see if you can pick up a second hand one off ebay, coz a good one can get expensive new, and the the Rosewill raid controller sucks so don't even look at that one).

Monitor SCEPTRE brand is not so, so, well so reliable, get samsung.

PSU is awesome, I have that one aswell, cables are nice and long for you case.

I got the q6600, hmmm sometimes i wish i just stuck with a faster dual core, because it's not like i'm running four/three demanding applications at once.

Sure you want Vista, that's a whole other story, I stuck with xp pro 32bit.

really thought 64 bit was the WTG.. in either XP 64 bit or Vista 64 bit..

Yea.. SCEPTRE isn't the best but is over $100 cheaper then something good...

I have the SAMSUNG 245BW Black 24", but the 22" have same resolution, personally 1920x1200 "looks" better and sharper on the 22" than the 24", 24" is nice for movie watching and playing Eve-Online on lol.
vista will drive you mad, when you get a creative x-fi sound card, or a raid controller you soon find out that you have problems with vista, pretty much everything supports winxp pro, there is also more support for 32bit than 64bit.

Oh and one more thing I hope you're going to oc at some point. Although the Antec Nine Hundred is a nice case and the cooling is awesome it is noisy, keep this in mind. So if you're not going to oc try another case, cheaper perhaps or something quieter, I got the antec p180, and can't go wrong at $89.99 on newegg.

You're so right, forget windows altogether the future is linux, Ubtuntu is noob friendly, I like Fedora only because I used Redhat prior to it.

well I am figuring on dealing with Vista 64 bit and dealing with issues. That will be the platform going forward. If I wasn't getting all new stuff then maybe I wouldn't go with Vista in fear that certain hardware would have drive issues. That is not to say there wont be driver issues but less likely with newer stuff.

Order two Seagates WTF.. I will give it a shoot. If it doesn't work out, I would always have one as OS with room and one for data.

As for the monitor.. I have looked.. I dunno.. I order the 24' already.. if it is really bad I will return or pull it out to ebay and try a Sammy 22' inch. Worth a shot. Otherwise looking @ another $100 for Sammy monitor.
