I don't want to lose any data so here I am asking first. Also I am way behind in the tech stuff anymore. Used to have to use FDISK and stuff like that. Seemed easier.
Anyway, I just added a 2nd HD to my box. I have XP Pro and vista on 0disk and nothing on 1disk.
Both Western Dig. sata
both detected by the BIOS and Device Manager and My Computer.
I initalized and formatted the new HD.
both are Primary
I want to put Windows 7 on new HD (without any trouble)
First-- should I make it active?
second--I read at West Dig to: "Disconnect any secondary hard drives (internal or external) from their data cables before starting the Operating System installation process. Data may be written to these hard drives during the Operating System installation process. These secondary hard drives should only be connected back into the computer once the Operating System and system drivers have been completely installed and updated."
I guess once I unhook disk0, I can just boot the system with Windows 7 and it will load into 2nd HD disk1? Then when I re-hook the 0disk all will be well?
Thanks for any help
