It'll be hard finding a worthwhile card for the 4X AGP bus.... seriously. Especially if your friend's wanting to play any modern games.

It may be time for a complete upgrade, and I know that can cost alot but seriously.... so can a worthwhile AGP graphics card!

Try looking on ebay for an AGP card, since alot of people will be selling their old ones when they upgrade to PCI-Express. Some bargains to be had.

Any 7 series nVidia GeForce card from the 7600 / 7900 range would be worthwhile but these all use the AGP X8 bus and Im not certain if AGP is all backwards compatible (Easier to buy whole new system!)

Your friend should not invest much in an old 200/266 bus Athlon XP system. Max cpu 1.4GHz Athlon? Ouch. What cpu does he have? What is his current video card? I would not bother with buying higher that a cheap used 9800 pro or 6600GT in that system. CPU is so far under minimum spec in newer games and those GPU's still do good in old games.

If your going to game on Vista I recommend 4GB, even if you get 32-bit Vista. My system was able to recognize 3.5GB and there was at heavy gaming times where my system used 80% of that.

Thanks so much for the info. My friend really only plays very basic games, she really doesn't need a high quality video card. I will do some shopping and see what bargains I can find. :)

If you look at the motherboard layout it says it can have an agp slot but that motherboard doesnt show an AGP slot to actually put it in..the AGP slot holder isnt there so you may be limited to just PCI slot video card unless your female friend has one and then again if you are gettin PCI slot video card then its gonna be even slower and are soon to be extinct or already have been.

List of PCI Vid cards

It better be some very light gaming like starcraft :)
