It most likely should. SATA II is backward compatible. Although there are some truly old motherboards that don't recognize new drives. Some harddisks have jumpers that force it to run as SATA I.

i have the same board but i think it can run sata 2, heres the boards link: http://www.msicomputer.com/product [...] V&class=mb says that you can.
