Ok so im Currently using an AcBell 550w PSU which is running into some issues on cold starts, its about 1.5 years old now and after upgrading to a Q6600 and 8800GT (from a E6600, 7900GT) iv seen this issue, it will instantly fail Prime95 (multi thread) and crash everything, not load display drivers or sound drivers properly etc, where as if i leave it in the bios for say 5 minutes then go into windows it will be fine, and will be for the rest of the time i use it for the day (in which im hammering it in games etc with no issues).

Only happens once every so often and only on cold starts so im thinking the psu so new one ASAP, i live in Australia so my choices are limited, the link below is the options i have, and my budget is around $150.

@100% load I'm showing ~465W+/-. I would probably get the Corsair VX-550.The ETA says "have been ordered, will be in stock by 2008-02-01". the Corsair HX-520 would do as well, depending on how much headroom you want. It seams that the site isn't updated very often, which is kind of scary. Maybe Randomizer will chime in, or you could PM him for other sites in Australia.

Out of interest, anyone know how good an AcBel R8 800 (750w) is?

I was under the impression Corsair was bad for PSU's? or was it some were and some were ok?

I want some headroom so, and i suspect the heavy load is waring out this (my current) PSU so i'm thinking Antec 650w Trio, anyone had experience with this particular one? I'm a fan of Antec so if all good this might be the one ill get.

Actually, the NeoPower 650w Blue - Modular! Is it true theres loss with modular psu's? Seems like a good idea and worth the extra if its aok...

I have seen no testing on the Acbel. I'm not a fan of modular, but a lot of people are. The Corsairs are better than the Antec. Here are some reviews/tests:

Antec NeoPower 650 and NeoPower 650 Blue
Corsair VX550W vs. Corsair HX520W
Corsair HX620 620w Power Supply
