I connect my printer via usb cable to my laptop and the drivers seem to load fine and the printer shows up as ready under the printers folder of the control panel. I make the hp officejet k60 my default printer. However when I try to print I get an "error-printing" status in the print job and nothing happens. Its as if the printer is not connected. I also ran the PDU utility but it just said my printer was not connected. I am stuck now

Unplug all other USB devices. If still not connected, switch USB Port.
Have another USB cable to try ?
If still an unconnected error, hookup all USB devices, Open device Manager, expand the USB Controller entry, click each entry and scan for new hardware.
