I wish I could answer off the top of my head but the simple answer is that the AMD A64 4400+ will ONLY fit if it's a 939 chip. If it's an AM2 chip (which I am not sure and can't look right now sorry) then it won't fit.

Boonality is right. You can find 939 and AM2 4400+ so be sure that the one you are getting is 939 and you won't have any problems with your motherboard.

Also, I saw a lot of people using that board with a X2 4200+ so it supports X2 CPUs.

Regards!

oh ok many thanks for the reply's, yes the second hand cpu is a 939 socket . theres this utility program on my pc and it says update bios so maybe i should do that once installed. i heard with dual core you have to set up the cpu so both cores run on programs or induvidual cores for induvidual applications. im probably talking rubish, but i am new !

thanks

You need to check the BIOS version you currently have and then check with Foxcon to see if dual core is supported, only update the BIOS if needed and if the later version supports dual core; a failed BIOS update can brick your MoBo (it's rare but it does happen).

If you do require an update, do it BEFORE installing the new processor, if the current BIOS doesn't support dual core it probably won't fire-up with the new CPU installed.

oh ok thanks for that linux, well it was an ebay auction for the dual core x2 4400+ but at the last minute someone snatched it.
so i just bought a amd 64 4000+ single core 1M L2 for a good price. i only wanted to improve my gaming so hopefully it would have been just as good as the x2 4400+? is it still worth updating the bios? its last update was 2005

thanks
