XP User credentials gone or not recognized

Hello,
We have 4 peopleon a home version of MS XP.
My daughters user name is there, however none of the widows programs will load, like PowerPointfor example and her beloved Itunes acts as if a new user just signed on. Power Point does work forall the other user accounts. HOW DO I RESTORE HER ACCOUNT? THANKS YOU DESPERATE FATHER.

you can try, but not guaranteed:

Restore does not erase your personal files and is reversible.
click start
click all programs
click accessories
click system tools
click system restore
check the box that says restore my computer to an earlier time, click next
select a bold date on the calendar, a date before the problem started, click next
follow through with the restore directions
restart the computer after it finishes
if the system restore does not work, select an even earlier bold date on the calendar and repeat the procedure
try this with at least four earlier dates before giving up and trying something else

And have you updated your anti-virus, and used it to scan your entire computer lately?
Child's internet habits tend to accumulate malware. I strongly recommend you back up your personal files, on a daily basis, using an automatic online backup service such as MOZY.
This way if the computer has more problems, you will be able to recover your files in the future.
