Hi there!

I was going to update my entire machine, but I have some questions and I hope you can help me deciding what is best for me.

I need to edit videos and deal with this capture card:

So, I am buying a new Hard Disk drive, and if you take a look into this BlackMagic Intensity Pro, it requires a x1 lane or faster PCIe (PCI Express) slot.

Certified PCIe Motherboards for Intensity

Asus P5B
Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 (rev. 3.3)
Intel Desktop Board D975XBX2
MSI P965 Platinum

What I find most necessary it's to gain speed, in all my tasks while editing videos, playing games or using common softwares. So the best items are what I want. It will be my last upgrade for many years, so my new hardware must last for a long, long time.

Here's what I was thinking a couple of months ago. I need your help to choose wisely.

My first choice (CPU) was the Intel E8200. Is there some better CPU that I should be aware of? Of course, if it's not being selled by a very expensive price (like 1000 dollars, for example).

My motherboard was the Gigabyte EP35-DS3 (P35-DS3 rev. 2.1). I believe it was released on January/2008.

I don't know about the RAM memory. What company did you choose? I want to use at least two models of 1 GB, instead of 2x512 MB. So, my system will have at least 2 GB of RAM. I don't know anything about latencies and the best memories, so help me here.

Another components like cooler, fans, and capture cards like Radeon I am also taking notes if you have some good suggestions.

I have a power supply once (Seventeam 420W) but it didn't last too long on my Pentium 4 3 GHz, so I was using a generic model. I also need to know what's the best way to store all of this. I will need at least 2-4 HDDs, so there must be space on this gabinet.

A quick note: I might change all these items if someone knows something else better, as long as the new recommended components are working with the Blackmagic Intensity Pro (see reqmts.).

Thanks!
