It sounds like there is a problem with your internet connection. You may want to disconnect the power to your modem and your router. Wait 30 seconds or so and reconnect the modem power. Wait another minute or so and reconnect the power to your router. XP will then re-establish your compter's network address, and allow your software to access the internet.

Just a quick addition, if you just installed/re-installed your Email service (such as Outlook) you may not have your information inserted properly.
